Frittmann wines from the Kunság district of Hungary are made as a family business. Apart from the two Frittmann brothers, almost every member of the family contributes on the vineyard, in the winery or in sales. Our parents and grandparents were also vineyard owners and vintners in what is Hungary's most extensive wine region. Their purpose has always been to make their wines from the best grapes of the best types the region can offer.
The Frittmann family has not departed from that tradition. We continue with the painstaking, venturesome tasks of grape-growing and winemaking learnt from our forefathers. The two youngest boys in the family are also studying, faithful to the family craft of quality-centred winemaking. The firm was placed on a new footing in 1987 and has operated as a limited company since 1998. At present, the family owns 40 hectares of self-planted cordon-grown vines. The quality grapes from another 70 hectares owned by smallholders are bought in under contract.
